"I want to know the thoughts of God. The rest are details." --Albert Einstein
Everything that I see has a purpose inside of the universe. That purpose is intertwined with everything else that I see as well. Because all things are one and because we are here to create, just as the Father created, we must see that God is in all created things. I have found that when I open my mind to seeing the beauty in a building, or in a place to sit, or in nature itself, I am admiring creation. Creation is not limited to what something outside of us has done. It is connected to who we are.
I just had a flash of a story that my father once told about an artist who was hired to draw a perfect picture of a particular bird. The artist was very expensive, but was known for the quality of what he could create. The man who had commissioned the artist to draw the bird began to be impatient after several weeks of not hearing from the artist. He tried to remember that the artist was the best and it could take longer. A few more weeks passed and the man finally went to the artist's studio. He knocked on the door and waited for the artist. When the artist arrived at the door, the man pushed his way in to the front of the studio. He demanded that the artist finish the commissioned work. So, the artist set his paper on the easel and within 10 minutes had drawn the perfect replica of the bird. He signed the bottom of the drawing and carefully handed it over to the man, then turned and walked toward the back of his studio. The man who had purchased the drawing, astonished at how easy it had been for the artist, followed him towards the back room. He yelled, "Why didn't you do this sooner if it was that easy!?" The artist stopped and looked around the room, prompting the man to follow his gaze and to notice the hundreds of drawings of the very same bird, all with variations, but none as perfect as the delivered work. At that moment, the man realized why it had been that easy. The artist had worked and worked to reveal the perfect bird, to see the true beauty of the creation in his own creation. At that moment, the artist replied, "Your drawing was easy because I had worked so hard to connect with the creation of the bird before I drew it." The man walked away pleased, knowing that a true masterpiece had been delivered to him.
Whether I look at a table, or a drawing, or a building, or a tree, or a single blade of grass, or even my dog, I know that God is in all that I see. The masterpiece of creation is evident in all that I witness. And all that I witness is a part of the creation that exists. Today, I will focus on seeing the connectedness of this world. I will see that God is in everything that I witness.
