I got up a bit early today. In fact, I got up at 3 in the morning. Today is a travel day for me and required that I be at the airport at 4AM. When I arrived, there were already others here waiting for their chance to be groped good morning by the TSA and head in to the airport. I was thinking about the way that I could view my day as I stood in line to get through security and to my gate. Looking around, it appeared that “The Walking Dead” might in fact be a reality. So, I started thinking about how I could bring some levity.
I started with a comment about hating it when I sleep this much (sarcasm) and then kicked off some conversations about the joys of travel. I got a couple of people talking about their experiences in traveling and then got them laughing. My experience in the four decades that I have been around is that people want to smile and laugh, they just don’t always think it is okay. They sometimes need a catalyst, someone who is a little nutty in the morning.
I think that we can be happy even on a few hours of sleep. It is simply a choice to observe others and inject a little joy into the day. What can you do to inspire others to let their inner joy out, even at 4 AM?
