When I was a young man, I was really into martial arts and boxing. I loved the thrill of a good fight with someone that was bigger, faster, or more experienced than I was. I would duck and weave and jump and counter and all of the things that you should do as fighter. What I think made me good is that I never saw the encounters as being "attacked." I saw them as an exchange that helped me to grow and become better at my craft.
The world is much the same way. It will always throw jabs at us, try to knock us down, and try to kick our tails. Just like a fight, we have to duck and dodge and weave and jump and do all of the things that make us stronger. When our focus is on being attacked, we never perfect the counter. When our focus is on the unfairness of what is happening to us, we will feel continuously down-trodden and never fully realize who we were designed to be. We are vulnerable when we focus on being attacked because we never take charge of our reality. It is deciding that we must see and must see differently that we begin to reveal the power that has always been ours.
Our power comes from knowing, not just hoping, but knowing that we have the same vision as the Spirit because our mind is also the mind of God. When we give up the illusion of separation from the source, we are able to claim the victory that is ours. Imagine fighting yourself. If you are focused on how to beat yourself, then you will think attack thoughts and you will know your every weakness. If you are focused on how to claim victory, on the other hand, you will fight much differently. The ego is the side that wants to beat you down. It is the side of you that needs to feel weak and helpless. The Spirit, the side of you connected to God, that is the side that has all of the real power. That is the side of you that wants to see you victorious. Your victory depends not on circumstances, but on sight.
God is in everything that you see, everything that I see, because God is in my mind. My vision, when I claim my connection to the source of all creation, is one of creating a better world. It is one of victory, not defeat. It is one of joy, not sorrow. Be determined to see and to see differently. Know that God is in everything that you see because God is in your mind. And know, you were put here for a grand purpose!
