I used to have the thoughts of teaching my kids a different meaning for things in this world before they went to school. I was joking around and telling my wife that I wanted to tell them that a pencil was called a banana, and a banana was called a pencil. I would then pack a banana in their lunch and wait for the call from the teacher. It's true that I have always been a prankster, but wouldn't it be funny to watch as the teacher told them to get out their pencils and write their names, and then my kid reached for a banana with a very puzzled look on their face? The kid and the teacher would both look at each other as if the other was missing a few of their marbles.
The sad truth is that since the beginning of time, most of us have been taught the wrong things about truth. We were taught that we were the victims of the world around us. We were taught that we had no control in this world. We were taught that this was the only way to see things. We were taught that we were disgusting sin-filled creatures that God might have mercy on, if He felt like it on the day we died. Now, what if those lessons were as wrong as the idea of me teaching my child that a pencil was a banana and a banana was a pencil? What if the ego, the great deceiver, had pulled the wool over our eyes for, well, all of our lives?
The real truth is that we are not prisoners of our circumstances. We are not just the created. We are creators. We have invented the world that we see and we can see it differently if we choose to do so. We can see peace instead of struggle. We can see joy instead of sorrow, happiness instead of strife. We are like an elephant loosely tied to a folding chair. We have been conditioned that we don't have the power to escape the weight of that chair. But all we have to do is try and the chair will go wherever we will it to go. We have incredible power and we were designed to create a world of beauty and hope and love. That is not disgusting or vile. That is holy! We are holy creatures, designed and destined for greatness. If we are created in the image of God and God is a part of who we are and in every fiber of our being, then we cannot be separated from Him. If we cannot be separated from Him, then our minds are a part of His mind. This means that the truth of everything is right in front of us. The truth is what sets us free and reminds us that because our minds are a part of God's mind, we are holy.
Let go of the illusions of the great deceiver and simply know that you were created to create.
