When we try to think about the past, we are creating an illusion in our minds about what it meant to be the past. We aren't actually traveling back in time to see the past itself. We can't be in that time. We can only be in the present. The present is the only truth that exists for us. Therefore, by trying to create the past again in our minds, we are taking away our own ability to live in the present, to live with joy, to experience life as it was designed to be. The truth about the past is that it has passed away.
This means that truth exists in the present moment and not in the past or in the future. When we spend our time as thoughtless humans, that is thinking of the past or the future, then we are robbing ourselves of truth. When those thoughtless moments consume us, we are no longer able to be who we are. Instead, we are trying to be who we might have been. That isn't truth. That is the fabrication of a reality that is projected from our minds. It isn't truth.
The only true thought about the past is that it doesn't exist. It is what once existed, but it is gone and we are still here. This version of us is still here. I was reading some of the things that a friend of mine liked as quotes a few weeks ago and one of them sticks out in my mind. "There is no other time than now." For the things that we are to accomplish, or the life of purpose that we were designed to live, or for the love that we are to share, there is no other time than now. You are only thinking now. To preoccupy your mind with the past or the future is to stop thinking. I am not a mindless freak. Are you? I didn't think so. I am in this moment. I am doing what I must to live into my purpose right now, right here. In each subsequent moment that I exist in, I will life as fully as I can!
Joy comes from living right here, right now, and living as the best version of myself that I can in this moment. I will no longer live in the past of what has been, nor will I live in the future of what might be. I will live now, acting now, thinking now, being all that I am capable of being, right now! What are you doing right now to be the success that you are designed to be?
