The thought for today is that light and joy and peace abide in me. I was created as a good person. I am and always was good. One of the fundamental flaws with religion, in my opinion, is that so many people believe that they were created evil, or bad, or completely unworthy, and that they have to spend their lives trying to prove to God that they can suppress who they are. The truth has always been that we were created in the image of the Creator, and were therefore created as holy beings that are filled with light and joy and peace. The truth is that we are to learn to reveal the good that was always there.
We spend so much of our lives believing that we are the home of evil and darkness and sin, that we are fundamentally flawed. We are filled with peace only when we realize that we were, are, and always will be connected to the Spirit and that we are fundamentally good. We don't need to suppress our inner light; we need to reveal it to the world. We need to realize that we aren't bad at all. We are good because we were created for good. When we encounter others, this should be our same thought. They were created as good people and they have light and joy in them.
As I look at the world around us, full of aggression and expecting the worst from others, I see that too many people have bought into the illusion of the ego instead of the truth of the Spirit. When you deal with a person who could potentially present you with conflict, you have the choice of how you look at them. When you look at them as wonderfully created, you tend to be kind and compassionate and assertive. When you look at them as fundamentally flawed or evil, you tend to be defensive, attacking, and aggressive. You control much of the outcome by the belief that you hold of others.
My challenge to you today is to see yourself as fundamentally good and full of light and to see others in that same light. Choose to see the good in others and you will find that they are more than happy to cooperate with you. Choose to see the bad in others and you will see that they are fundamentally in tune with your beliefs as well. Believe good and you will see so much more of it!
