Most of us are busy. Most of us are trying to figure out what our life is really all about. In fact, most of us are getting to the end of our weekends and thinking... Is this it?! We often wonder if there is more to life than "the schedule." We wonder if we are doomed to be stuck in the perpetual cycle of "good enough" or if there really is a way to master this thing called life.
When you step back from your life and begin to evaluate all that there is around you, you begin to realize that much of your life is currently being controlled by people other than you. You realize that the world has been pulling you, pushing you, poking and prodding you into doing what it wants. You realize that the circumstances of life have been dictating your reality instead of you choosing your reality.
I want you to know that you have a choice. You have a choice on everything that you are doing and on everything that you allow into your life. You can and should filter out the things that do not help you to flow into your purpose in life. When I look at my own life, I realize that there are things that are not in line with my stated purpose. Upon that realization, I begin to evaluate ways in which I can eliminate the non-essentials. Trust me, there are plenty of worthy causes for your time. However, the only worthy causes that are truly worthwhile are the ones that help you move one step closer to your true purpose in life.
So, my challenge to you is to state what it is that your purpose will be this week and then filter everything that you do through that purpose. If it doesn't move you in the direction of your purpose, no matter how "worthy" the cause is, don't do it. If it does move you in the right direction, then by all means, do it! You will find what I have found. That is that only about 20% of what you have been doing will actually move you in the right direction. That means that your life could be much easier than it is right now. It could be that 80% of what you are doing could go away without negatively impacting your destiny. The trick is to find the 20% as quickly as possible. That is accomplished through this filtering process.
So, what are you waiting for? Choose your 1-week purpose and begin to filter the activities of your day through that filter! Go get 'em!
