"That some good can be derived from every event is a better proposition than that everything happens for the best, which it assuredly does not."
--James K. Feibleman
There is so much in this world that I simply do not understand. I don't understand why innocence is lost. I don't understand why only the good die young. I don't understand why bad things happen to good people. I don't get why lots of events happen. What I don't get the most, though, is why people think that everything that happens was a predestination. Not everything that happens to us or around us is good simply because it happened. It also isn't predetermined. It is simply a choice.
By the same measure, when those things happen to us or around us, we have the choice to respond in any way that we desire. We can respond with a positive mind or we can respond with a negative mind. We can choose to turn situations to our favor, or we can choose to cower when things happen. It has been my experience that I am significantly happier when I take a bad situation and look for the seed of benefit that is always hidden there. Every challenge that we face, every trial that is in our life, every struggle that we go through holds an opportunity to be more than we were before. Even though I don't like most of the trials that I face, I do know that they are my opportunity to take myself to the next level. They are a chance to make something great out of something that another person's choice made tough.
What will you choose? Will you choose to look for the good that can be derived from bad events? Or, will you let life happen to you? Choose good!
