I read in an article last week that most people check their phone within 2 minutes of waking up. The majority of those checking their phones are checking some form of social media. This means that most people are pushing thoughts into their minds, like affirmations, but based on what is in their social feed. We are literally conditioning ourselves to look for specific things throughout the day based on what our "friends" are clicking on. I put friends in quotations because a very large portion of who we are connected to in our social streams are not actually people that we hang out with. They are simply people that we met, either for real on just in the virtual reality of the social stratosphere, and who we have invited into our lives in order to influence our conscious filtering.
The human mind is an incredible thing! It has the power to make heaven out of hell and hell out of heaven. James Allen taught that it is our thoughts that create the very fabric of the world that we live in. This means that we are co-creators in the reality that exists for us. By observing anything through a filter of apperception, we are sorting out the things that don't fit with the filter and accepting the things that do fit. This means that you are filtering in the things that you expose yourself to and filtering out the things that are inconsistent with your programming. Because we are always programming ourselves, we must be aware of the inputs that we are seeking out and be careful that they are not taking away from our ability to see good in the world.
One of the most incredible things that I have done in my life is to create positive affirmations that I repeat morning, noon, and night. Affirmations set the tone for what we look for throughout the day. They may not be "magical" in the sense of wizards and the like. They are, however, magical in the impact that they have on what you filter into your mind and what you are able to filter out of your mind. The negative of this world is what scares people into reading more of an article. Article titles like, "You won't believe what Trump did this time!" or "Clinton has really done it this time!" are what convince people to click and read more. Regardless of what Trump, or Clinton, or Sanders, or Obama, or that guy named Fred do, I have the option to choose what I allow into my mind.
Our consciousness is filtered by the unconscious focus that we have created. You can literally take control of your world by taking control of your filters. William James, the father of American Psychology, said, "That which I perceive is my reality." This means that we can control reality by controlling perception. We control perception by controlling our filters. We establish our filters by establishing our focus, and that is done by using daily affirmations.
I would encourage you to read the following statement out loud at least first thing in the morning and the last thing before you go to bed. Do this for a week and let me know the difference it makes for you.
Affirmation: Today, I will seek out the good that exists in the world. I will see the positive that others are doing and I will unlock their potential. I am responsible for my world and I create a positive world to live in! I am in control of me and I am creating today as an awesome experience.
By simply affirming the world that you desire, you stop falling prey to the negativity in the world and you start living a life that is fulfilled, happy, and positive!
