Your cohort starts early with three virtual Lunch-and-Learns: Fridays, December 11, January 15 and February 19, at noon Central.
One week you are great at the job. The next week you are responsible for everyone else doing it. Most supervisors are promoted for the work they did, then left to figure out the people part alone.
Principles of Supervision is the manual. The Amarillo cohort meets online over lunch three times, once a month, and then spends one full day together working through six skills. Each one is built around a true story, a model you can use the next morning, and an exercise with your own team’s names on it.
Each skill gets its own hour: a story, a model and time to apply it.
SKILL 1
Manage your emotions, your discipline and your schedule. Your first leadership challenge is you.
SKILL 2
Set expectations people can say back to you, listen so concerns reach you early, and delegate with the C.L.A.R.I.T.Y. system.
SKILL 3
Spot the Drama Triangle, redirect a complaint to the person it is about, and steady your team.
SKILL 4
Build a rhythm of one-on-ones, coach with the S.O.F.T. model, and take care of your top performers.
SKILL 5
Praise what people do right, set standards that do not move, and inspire great results.
SKILL 6
Know what great looks like, interview every candidate the same way, and onboard with a 90-day roadmap.
