The Mid-Year Leadership Check-In
Jul 01, 2025
With today marking the beginning of the second half of the year, it’s time to evaluate what is working, what is not working, and what needs to be implemented or improved upon moving forward. Take some time to reflect on the goals that you have set for your business. Are you on your way to accomplishing them, have you already, or is it time to re-think the goals you are striving for? This is a pivotal time for many leaders and businesses because what you change now will determine how the rest of the year will go.
This should also be a time of collaboration. Talk to your team and get their input about how things are going. You often don’t see everything that they are dealing with in their day-to-day operations, so by opening up this line of communication, you are better able to provide the resources and development that they need in order to be successful. This helps boost productivity and morale, and it reinforces the mission of the organization.
Strategically planning your efforts keeps you on the right track, ensuring that momentum is not lost and your focus is on the most important tasks. Priorities can change, and goals may need to be adjusted. As a team, you can explore opportunities for growth and advancement for the remainder of the calendar year. Without having this check-in, it’s like looking at a map one time and hoping you still get to the destination you intended to get to. However, with this check-in, you can see how far you’ve come, where you’re headed next, and what action you need to take to get there.
As you evaluate your progress, it’s also important to recognize and celebrate the wins you have had so far in 2025. Take some time to share your appreciation with your team and explain how their contributions benefit the organization. When people feel valued, they tend to feel more motivated. Keep going, and finish out the second half of the year strong. You are in control of what happens next, so take advantage of that.
